Malwarebytes Anti-Malware includes a simple and easy-to-use application installer that allows you to equip yourself with revolutionary anti-malware technology with ease.
In order to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware version 1.75 or lower onto your computer, you must be a system administrator. If you do not have administrative privileges on the system in question, you will need to contact the system administrator to obtain such privileges or to have them install Malwarebytes for you.
The first step in installing Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is to download the necessary setup file from the Malwarebytes website. Once you have the setup file, you will need to launch the installer by double-clicking on the file.
In more recent versions of Windows (Vista/7), you will be presented with a UAC (User Account Control) dialog asking you to verify the file. You should only proceed with the installation if the verified publisher for the file is listed as “Malwarebytes Corporation.” Click “Yes” to continue with the installation.
The next portion of the installation will ask you to select an installation language. While the installer will default to the language of your local Windows installation, you can opt to select another language that is more native to you. Select the appropriate language from the list and select “OK.”
The next screen will begin the actual installation procedure, and will ask you to close any open applications before continuing. Follow the directions and click “Next” when you are ready to continue.
The following screen will present you with the end-user license agreement (EULA). By accepting this agreement, you imply that you have read the terms in the document and agree to abide by them. If you choose to accept the agreement, select the “I accept the agreement” button, and click “Next.”
Following the EULA, you will be presented with a change-log for the Malwarebytes product. This section of text will describe any bugs that have been resolved and any changes that have been made since the previous version. Feel free to read this, and when ready, click “Next.”
The next screen will ask you to specify the location on your hard drive where Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is to be installed. The installer will default to a subdirectory of the “Program Files” folder on you operating system’s hard drive or partition. In most cases, the default option will be sufficient, however you can choose to install to a different user-specified directory if you see fit.
Following the installation location dialog, the following two screens will ask you to specify if you would like icons to be added to the Windows start-menu, quick launch area, or desktop. While these options are completely up to you, it is recommended that you at the very least opt to have a start menu icon configured. This will ensure that you have quick and easy access to the Malwarebytes application, and will be able to configure settings and run malware scans.
The icon dialogs will be the final confirmation screens you will see before Malwarebytes is installed. Before the actual installation begins, however, you will be presented with a screen asking you to confirm the details of your installation. Once you have read the proposed installation details, click the “Install” button to begin the installation process. This should only take a matter of minutes. In the event that you see an error in the proposed installation details, click on the “Back” button to reconfigure the options to your needs.
Once the installation has completed, you will be presented with a confirmation screen. On this screen, you will be given the options to update the database and to launch the Malwarebytes application. It is recommended that you select both options and click the “Finish” button.
